A Day in the Life at Electrical Specialists

Your day is built around scheduled service calls with homeowners in and around Topeka.

At each home, you'll listen first, track down the problem, and look over the electrical system for safety concerns.

Then you'll explain what you found in plain language and help the homeowner choose the solution that fits their priorities.

We're a growing company, and we're building clear systems and standards so you know exactly what's expected on every call.

You'll have the freedom to own your work and your customer's experience without someone looking over your shoulder.

What You'll Be Doing

Running scheduled residential service calls
Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical problems
Doing thorough electrical evaluations to spot safety concerns and improvements
Listening to homeowners and explaining your findings clearly

Presenting solutions that fit each customer's priorities
Performing repairs, installations, and upgrades safely
Keeping your service vehicle clean, organized, and stocked
Completing job paperwork and staying in touch with our office team

Who We're Looking For

You enjoy people, and you make customers feel respected, informed, and well taken care of.

Beyond that:

Active journeyman electrician's license
Strong residential troubleshooting and repair experience
Ability to work independently and manage your service calls
Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code

Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Ability to work throughout Topeka and our surrounding 30-mile service area
Residential service experience is strongly preferred

You'll make sure your crew has the materials, tools, and equipment it needs, then lead the way on panel replacements, service upgrades, new circuits, and other electrical improvements in homes around Topeka.

Along the way, you'll train less-experienced electricians and help your crew get better and faster under your leadership.

Reviewing pre-sold jobs and preparing for smooth installations
Leading and working alongside an installation crew
Making sure materials, tools, and equipment are ready for each job
Performing residential installations, including panel replacements, service upgrades, and circuits

Keeping every jobsite safe, organized, and productive
Training and developing less-experienced electricians
Finishing jobs on time, within labor budgets, and to customer expectations
Completing job paperwork and keeping customers, teammates, and management updated

What You'll Do

Your first priority is bringing consistency, organization, and accountability to daily office operations. Responsibilities will transfer progressively as you learn the business.

Oversee scheduling, dispatch, customer communication, billing follow-up, and office workflows
Lead and support the office team with coaching, routines, and accountability
Keep technicians, office staff, and leadership connected
Maintain dashboards, review KPIs, and identify opportunities for improvement

Track open issues, ownership, deadlines, and standard operating procedures
Support recruiting, interviews, onboarding, and employee development
Work with the owner to implement systems, improve processes, and coordinate outside partners
Grow into broader operations or general management leadership as the business grows

What You'll Bring

Required:

Strong organizational, time-management, communication, and problem-solving skills
Experience coordinating people, schedules, projects, customers, or business operations
Confidence holding people accountable and working independently
Comfort learning software, dashboards, reporting systems, and processes
Professional judgment, discretion, and consistent follow-through

Preferred: Office management or supervisory experience; home-services or skilled-trades experience; familiarity with dispatch, invoicing, SOPs, recruiting, onboarding, KPIs, or marketing coordination.

Your First 90 Days

Days 1–30 — Learn: Understand the team, culture, customers, systems, workflow, and current bottlenecks.
Days 31–60 — Own: Begin managing daily office operations, communication, escalations, KPIs, and accountability.
Days 61–90 — Improve: Establish consistent routines, improve SOPs, and take increasing ownership of solutions.
